Yesterday, I meet up with a few friends for dinner. Per usual, I put the directions in my phone and my iPhone gave me two routes to choose from… The path I knew and the scenic route through the Maryland country side that include crossing over this amazing reservoir that I love to visit. It was rush hour time, and both paths would take about the same amount of time, so I decided to take the route I didn’t know to avoid the highway traffic and take in the sights on the scenic route.
At first, I was hype! Taking in all the picturesque scenes that is literally in my backyard until there was a detour on my route that caused me to go in another direction that was not planned out. Before my phone could even re-route, I was on a path I knew nothing about… I’m not going to lie, I got a little nerves! The country side isn’t paid when you know where you going and it is still day light outside; and loosing both brought my comfort level all the way down.
Getting comfortable with the uncomfortable is still something I personally am learning how to deal with, but I will say this… After getting lost one time, I we will nerve get lost on that route again. Now I know a new route, and I am expanding my the possibilities. All it took was just a getting past a little discomfort of being lost and expecting that it is okay to be in that space.
What are stepping out and getting lost in today?
