For those who know me, know I have an obsession with Crazy Eyes on +Orange is the New Black! I always seemed to be drawn in by the character, hurt by her actions, and sad when something would happen to her. For the longest I didn’t know what it was that had me glued to the character’s every move, but after reading Uzo Aduba’s article in the +The Daily Beast I realized it was her personal story that shined through the character that I was drawn to.
Her fight through rejection, and her persistence to live out her dreams is a story that you can’t help but appreciate and admire.
In her own words on The Daily Beast:
“….The summer before I started work on Orange Is the New Black, I found myself on the brink. It was my first pilot season and I had put it all on the line. No theater, no play offers—film and TV only. I heard the word “no” so often that it started to feel like a second name. I watched my savings dwindle.
