Menstruation is a normal occurrence for women. However, the level of pain that is associated with a menstrual cycle can depend on a lot of factors.

And those factors have caused pain at all levels. From discomfort to extreme pain, menstrual pain can be life-altering, but herbs can help! This blog post will be breaking down 7+ herbs that will help with menstrual cramps.

For women like myself, with dysmenorrhea or secondary dysmenorrhea disorder like Endometriosis, herbs for menstrual cramps have been a must when finding pain relief.

It is important for all women to understand what causes their pain. No matter if you experience pain from time to time or on a consistent bases, understanding what is causing your pain and how to address it will allow you to live a healthy life your way!

What Causes Menstrual Cramps

Menstrual cramps are caused by inflammation. Your prostaglandins hormones respond to your uterus shedding blood, and rush in to signal that something isn’t right. They are doing their job!

We need prostaglandins to alert us when we hurt ourselves or have damaged tissue in our body. They use inflammation, pain and fever to alert the body that healing is needed.

Unfortunately, in the case of menstrual pain, your body is “over-reacting” and you have to get control of the inflammation that your prostaglandins is producing to lower you pain levels.

To do this you will need to use herbs with anti-inflammatory properties to find the relief you need.

7 Herbs That Help with Menstrual Cramps

These six herbs are prone to relieving inflammation because of their anti-inflammatory properties:

  3. Bupleurum
  4. Cinnamon
